Part-Time Firefighter/EMT

Department: Fire
Location: Southern Pines, NC

Job Title: Part-Time Firefighter/EMT

Hourly Rate of Pay: $14.00

The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to serve as Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs with the Southern Pines Fire Department. This vital role involves protecting life and property through fire suppression, prevention, and emergency response.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.
  • Operate fire and rescue equipment effectively during emergency incidents.
  • Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities.
  • Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures.
  • Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • North Carolina Firefighter Certification.
    • North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
  • Preferred:
    • NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification.
    • Technical Rescuer Certification – NFPA 1006 (2013).
    • Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.

Selection Process:

Qualified applicants must:

  • Successfully complete the department’s physical agility test.
  • Pass a written general knowledge test.
  • Undergo a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
