Summer Camp Counselor

Department: Parks & Recreation

Summer Camp Counselor

Part Time

Rate of Pay: $12.00/Hour

Closing Date: Open until Filled

Job Type: Seasonal, May through August

Reports to: Program and Aquatics Coordinator

Job Description: Southern Pines Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a Summer Camp Counselor position. Applicant must be a highly dependable, responsible individual with strong communication skills, as well as have a positive and high energy attitude.

Primary duties include:

  • Supervise campers at both camp locations (Train House & Rec Center)
  • Ability to communicate with campers, parents, and co-workers
  • Ability to enforces policies, rules, and regulations
  • Create and oversee tasks required to complete job
  • Complete proper paperwork with campers and/or parents
  • Fill in for other staff as needed to ensure smooth camp-wide operations
  • Be willing to complete bus driver training and assist with camp transportation when needed
  • Bring creative twists and fresh ideas to programming
  • Willingness to learn about various camp topics, new games, new crafts, etc.
  • Actively participate in all camp trainings as participant in order to learn responsibilities and expectations for staff role
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies
  • Provide leadership in cases of urgency or emergency in alignment with camp emergency procedures

Part time no benefits, weekday work schedules

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Preferred CPR & First Aid Certified
